Kokopelli's Hideaway is surrounded by the Anza Borrego Desert State Park with private access to the Pacific Crest Hiking Trail along Highway S2, 8.5 miles from Julian and 16 miles from Borrego Springs.

The High Desert Region of San Diego County provides the perfect backdrop for activities like hiking during the day and relaxing evenings under the stars.

The secluded cottage is the place for couples, small families, friends, hikers, photographers, dreamers, botanists, bikers, swimmers, geologists, naturalists, astronomers, writers, painters, artists, poets, explorers, pilots and model airplane enthusiasts.

Honeymooners and people who want to get away from it all can relax in the quiet of the high desert.

Overview

Full size kitchen, dining area, front room has a pull-out sofa for two sleeping accommodations. Bedroom with California King bed, working area with desk, full bathroom with shower/sitzbath combo.

Patio with table and chairs for outdoor dining. A stargazing patio with lounges to relax.

Amenities

The kitchen features a refrigerator/freezer, coffee machine, electric water kettle, gas cooktop, Microwave, Air Fryer, Waffle Maker, Crockpot; all dishes, and silverware.

Satellite TV, WiFi, metered Satellite internet, a movie collection with 1000+ titles, books and LPs;

All bed linens and towels, guest soap for the shower/bathtub combo, towel warmer;

BBQ on the patio

Parking next to building.

Stargazing

Pictures like this one were shot from the stargazing patio which offers a 270 degree unobstructed dark sky view every night of the year. We provide assistance with tables and chairs and to spots for setting up your telescope. For the casual sky observer there are two lounges with blankets and pillows to enjoy the night sky.

Hiking

The property has access to the PCT and hikers year-round take a break here, get their laundry washed, pick up their supply packages and enjoy a clean bed before heading onto the next section. We also provide pick-up and take-to services.

Biking

With the command center of many adventure rallies right down the road we welcome every year participants from all over the world. We are happy to shop for you if you are traveling by bike and have your food for you upon arrival. Call for details.

Flying

The airstrip is 2700 feet long and offers easy access for small aircraft of any kind. Please call ahead for detailed info and approach instructions. Rental Car is available.

Rates

$159.00 for two people/1 bed, 2-night, minimum, $98.00 cleaning fee and all taxes apply. Second bed $35.00/person/night.

Our stay in Kokopelli's was perfect

we were well situated to explore Anza Borrego State Park. Our favorite hike was Plum Canyon which we enjoyed 4 times.

We admired the painting of Tulum and also the hand painted tiles in the kitchen.

Kokopelli's Hideaway was exactly what we needed as a break from the long winter. We plan to return.

Kokopelli is a delightful gem of a cottage

sitting approximately midway between Julian and Borrego Springs.The cottage was immaculate ; the grounds well kept.

Reni, the hostess, could give a master’s class in how to decorate and equip a rental. Her collection of Native art coupled with the artwork of her multitalented husband Charles are on display throughout the unit. The property is comfortable and cool in the evening .

Reni has encyclopedic knowledge of the local area and is keen to share it .She was also easily accessible.

Biking and hiking trails are close by or you can just relax outside and enjoy the ever changing desert scenery.
